The Spiritually Mature.

Yet among the mature we do impart wisdom, although it is not a wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are doomed to pass away. we impart a secret and hidden wisdom of God, which God decreed before the ages for our glory. None of the rulers of this age understood this, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. But, as it is written,

“What no eye has seen, nor ear heard,
nor the heart of man imagined,
what God has prepared for those who love
Him”—

these things God has revealed to us through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God. For who knows a person’s thoughts except the spirit of that person, which is in him? So also no one comprehends the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might understand the things freely given us by God. And we impart this in words not taught by human wisdom but taught by the Spirit, interpreting spiritual truths to those who are spiritual.

The natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned. The spiritual person judges all things, but is himself to be judged by no one. “For who has understood the mind of the Lord so as to instruct Him?” But we have the mind of Christ. 1 Corinthians 2:6-16

What characterizes a person to be spiritually mature? How do we describe such a person? They impart the hidden wisdom of God. How? By being in tune with the Holy Spirit and hearing Him. They go with the Spirit of God into the depths of the heart of God. They understand prayer is a relationship and a joy. It is a communion with Him and them. These people are taught by the Holy Spirit. They entreat Him, enjoy Him, commune with Him, laugh with Him, cry with Him, and rest in Him. Their greatest joy is to be with Him. He is their best friend.

Obviously the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23) are evident in their character, demeanor, attitude, and interaction with others. They exude the love of God, it is their fragrance, and frequency. Everything they do is by His prompting and direction, because they love His participation in every part of their lives, even down to the littlest of things. Jesus shares His secrets with them, and they ‘keep’ them, and cherish them, hidden in their hearts.

They love talking about Jesus with anyone who will listen. They love to share the deep truths that have been taught to them by the Spirit of God to the Body of Christ surrounding them. They encourage the Body of Christ to grow and follow Him in everything. They love to fellowship with their spiritual family. They bring His peace.

These people experience Jesus every day. They ‘walk’ with the Holy Spirit. The Spirit guides them and confirms His work around them. These people no longer ‘feel’ attached to this world, and others know this characteristic about them, and yet they are ‘present’ wherever they go. They are never in a hurry but present with Him.

These are those that walk humbly with the ‘Most High’. They have a quiet unassuming nobility about them. These are the sons and daughters of their Father their Creator.

Jesus… I want to walk with you today. Lead on Jesus.

Come Holy Spirit …show me the path.
