Breathe.

then the Lord God formed the man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living creature. Genesis 2:7

By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, and by the breath of His mouth all their host. Psalm 33:6

Thus says God, the Lord,
    who created the heavens and stretched them out,
    who spread out the earth and what comes from it,
who gives breath to the people on it
    and spirit to those who walk in it:
“I am the Lord; I have called you in righteousness;
    I will take you by the hand and keep you;
I will give you as a covenant for the people,
    a light for the nations, Isaiah 42:5-6

Then Jesus, calling out with a loud voice, said, “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit!” And having said this He breathed His last. Luke 23:46

Do you understand the mystery of your breath? The very mixture of your spirit, soul, and body all in one being sustained by the very breath of God who gave you …life. Now you breathe because of Him. Can you stop in this moment and thank Him for your life … and breath?

Because of His breath in you … you have thoughts, and a soul with emotions, and a body with feelings, and right now you are experiencing life, because of His goodness and kindness to you.  Your Creator and His mysterious and marvelous ways wants to have an intimate relationship with you. For this is the reason you exist. Can you ask Jesus to fill you again with His Spirit, to become one with you again?

Out loud prayer: Jesus …I want to be in union with you. I give all of myself to you. Come into me and have your way with me. Immerse me again with your Holy Spirit. I give every thought to you Jesus. I focus on you. You are my love.

Often the simplest things in life are some of the most complex and mysterious in creation. We rarely think of our breath, unless you can’t breathe. We really don’t understand the power and spiritual mystery of our breath.

And when He had said this, He breathed on them and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit. John 20:22

Have you learned any disciplines of breathing? How much does deep breathing effect you? Purposeful deep breathing in … and holding it, and then slowly exhaling. Do that three times … and take note the results within you.

Heart prayer: Father we breathe only because of you. Thank you for the life of Jesus and His work and breath in me. Thank you for the breath of life. Holy Spirit I give myself to you, and I agree with you. Show me your ways. Teach me your Word. Come breathe in me.

Today be hyper aware of His Presence. Be open to His voice inside of you. Be aware of your breath and how it connects you with Him.
