This question was in my mind looking at the situation this world sits in currently with all it’s talk of nuclear annihilation. When the daily situation locally gets more and more tough, where our income is dwindling and our expenses are rising with no end in sight. Certainly things are looking more and more dismal. But … how are we to live through each day?
When I asked this question the answer was ….immediate from the Spirit of God. The place of faith is in …the present. The enemy wants to remind us of our failures in the past, and torment us with guilt and shame. Then the enemy plays on our fears and talks about the future, with pain, suffering, and uncertainty that will envelop us. The past is gone, there is nothing we can do about it. The future has not yet happened and there is nothing we can do about it. Today is what we have, and so we need to connect to His Holy Spirit every morning and press into Him, asking Him to guide us, instruct us, and give us our daily assignment for Him. Our faith was made for the present.
How do we remain in the present and not let the past and future overwhelm us? This is the battlefield of the mind.
For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds. We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ, being ready to punish every disobedience, when your obedience is complete. 2 Corinthians 10:4-6
Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise! Psalms 95:2
I will bless the Lord at all times; his praise shall continually be in my mouth. Psalms 34:1
We must constantly bring our focus back onto Him, asking Him to fill our space with His Presence. Moment by moment throughout our day bringing our minds in line with His Word being spoken to in our hearts and minds. No matter our circumstances we will learn to praise Him. In the midst of the storm we will praise Him. When everyone is falling around us … we will trust in our Lord for our foundation in Him was built on the rock, for He is our cornerstone.
But if God so clothes the grass, which is alive in the field today, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, how much more will he clothe you, O you of little faith! Luke 12:28
For we have come to share in Christ, if indeed we hold our original confidence firm to the end. Hebrews 3:14
“Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord,
whose trust is the Lord.
He is like a tree planted by water,
that sends out its roots by the stream,
and does not fear when heat comes,
for its leaves remain green,
and is not anxious in the year of drought,
for it does not cease to bear fruit.” Jeremiah 17:7-8
