For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways, declares the Lord. Isaiah 55:8
This little verse is very well known and often cited and quoted by many. But the depth of God’s statement here cannot be fully understood by humankind. We often use it with a shallow meaning to dismiss some aspect in an argument or statement. But the Truth of this statement grows in understanding the more spiritually mature a person becomes. How big is God? What is it God wants? How does God carry out His plan? The more one truly seeks to find the Truth the more one understands the infinite nature of God – and thus the reality of what we actually know shrinks proportionally with the growing revelation of Him.
We are infants in the scope of eternity. Yet our pride declares our ignorance in His Presence. We are utterly infantile in our thinking in His Presence. Yet… the mystery is that He WANTS to have relationship with us. His ‘joy’ is us!?! Let that sink in.
He loves us not like we love Him. What compares to the love of God? Can you explain the entire workings of this universe and beyond? How far does His love encompass? How deep does His love go?
We just need to look at Jesus. And we will begin to understand SOME of the Father’s heart towards us. David the psalmist penned it this way…
For as high as the heavens are above the earth,
so great is His steadfast love toward those who fear Him;
as far as the east is from the west,
so far does He remove our transgressions from us.
As a father shows compassion to his children,
so the Lord shows compassion to those who fear Him. Psalms 103:11-13
And then the apostle John through the Holy Spirit wrote this…
For God so loved the world, that He gave his only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16
We cannot begin to know Him in an attitude of pride. We MUST seek Him in true humility and honesty. We must seek Him acknowledging our ignorance and sin in real confession. What is He not able to see? Doesn’t He now know us better than we know ourselves? Do you know how many hairs are on your head at this very moment? We are childish fools if we think we can keep secrets, or things hidden from God. Who can deceive God?
David by the inspiration and revelation of the Spirit of God speaks of his humility and praise before Him.
On the glorious splendor of Your majesty,
and on Your wondrous works, I will meditate.
They shall speak of the might of Your awesome deeds,
and I will declare Your greatness.
They shall pour forth the fame of Your abundant goodness
and shall sing aloud of Your righteousness. Psalms 145:5-7
Can you do the same?
