Super Bowl Parable

No longer do I call you servants, for the servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you. John 15:15

Once upon a time there was an extremely rich individual and he had never been to the Super Bowl. But he really loved his friends so he decided that he would go to the next super bowl with all of his real friends. So he personally worked and worked on buying every single ticket and pass to the next super bowl, even all of the promotional passes and team tickets were purchased at a very high cost. The individual didn’t care how much it cost because he loved his friends so much and wanted to celebrate with all of them in one place at one time, in fact it cost the individual almost his entire fortune. Eventually after much seemingly endless work and effort he had secured the entire arena and event’s tickets and passes for all of his friends. No one would be in the audience but his friends to watch the Super Bowl with him.

So my questions for you readers is this…

Who does this individual really consider his friends? What is his criteria for receiving a ticket to the ‘big event’? Can you actually be in the employ of this individual and not be considered his ‘real’ friend? So even if an individual says to everyone they know — that they are a friend of this rich individual, does this secure them a ticket? What is the guarantee of a person receiving a ticket to the ‘big event’? Could you be the rich individual’s accountant and not receive a ticket? Or his chauffeur? Or his personal assistant? Or one of his global managers? Who does this rich individual really consider his friend? Remember …there are lots and lots of people who  work for this person and many others also ‘claim’ to be friends with this rich individual? But does that employment and claim actually help them? If you wanted to be that individual’s friend, how would you go about it? Do you think faking it .. would actually work?

Readers… now consider this …that Jesus purchased EVERY single ‘ticket’ into heaven. And He is ONLY taking His ‘real’ friends. Does that last sentence concern you? Do you just say Jesus is your friend? Do you know Jesus well enough to know that HE definitely calls you His friend?

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. John 14:6
