“For from the least to the greatest of them,
everyone is greedy for unjust gain;
and from prophet to priest,
everyone deals falsely.
They have healed the wound of my people lightly,
saying, ‘Peace, peace,’
when there is no peace.
Were they ashamed when they committed abomination?
No, they were not at all ashamed;
they did not know how to blush.
Therefore they shall fall among those who fall;
at the time that I punish them, they shall be overthrown,”
says the Lord.
Thus says the Lord:
“Stand by the roads, and look,
and ask for the ancient paths,
where the good way is; and walk in it,
and find rest for your souls.
But they said, ‘We will not walk in it.’
I set watchmen over you, saying,
‘Pay attention to the sound of the trumpet!’
But they said, ‘We will not pay attention.’
Therefore hear, O nations,
and know, O congregation, what will happen to them.
Hear, O earth; behold, I am bringing disaster upon this people,
the fruit of their devices,
because they have not paid attention to my words;
and as for my law, they have rejected it.
Jeremiah 6:13-19
Are we wise enough to heed and understand the lessons of history? Do we really think we can escape the consequences of our sin / actions? Can we actually learn from our or better yet someone else’s past mistakes? Do we settle and sigh in relief when we hear the words “peace, peace” from our spiritual leadership? Yet we dismiss the whisper of the Holy Spirit within us – ignoring His warnings to our minds and heart.
Will we cast out the desert prophets and obnoxious watchman from our midst because they say things that we don’t want to hear or give any relevance to? We love the “Palace Prophets” and “Golden Boy” preachers. We’d rather listen to those in fine robes telling us everything is fine. Or maybe they are now wearing exactly what we are wearing so that they will be seen as ‘one of us’. The act of false humility is all the style now. They think lying is fine if it accomplishes what they want it to. The world’s corrupt evil ways have infiltrated our ‘hallowed halls’, and religious places of ‘Worship’.
Can you clearly hear the Voice of the Holy Spirit within you? Do you submit to His conviction in your life? When God begins to confront corruption – He will ALWAYS begin with US …personally! If you actually love Him – He will lovingly confront you …first.
How can you say to your brother, ‘Brother, let me take out the speck that is in your eye,’ when you yourself do not see the log that is in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take out the speck that is in your brother’s eye. Luke 6:42
Jesus speaks directly to US! Let’s be like those who welcome the refining fire of God. If we perish, we perish, but I’d rather trust God than my own efforts, fears, or so-called wisdom.
Father …please search our hearts and expose any wicked way within us!
Be careful listening to anyone now saying to you “peace, peace”.
1 thought on “Jeremiah warning.”
Amen.
I’m reminded of the volcanic eruption in 2018. It happened on May 3rd. You’ve heard me preach on it. The message of 53 was to recognize that those whom God loves, He rebukes and chastens, therefore be zealous and repent.
The idea of a refiners fire in volcanic lava is that a lava flow is approachable.
The symbolism is for us to willingly place ourselves in His path and let Him refine us. It is not what our flesh wants to do but it is His way.
