That same day Jesus went out of the house and sat beside the sea. And great crowds gathered about Him, so that He got into a boat and sat down. And the whole crowd stood on the beach. And He told them many things in parables, saying: “A sower went out to sow. And as he sowed, some seeds fell along the path, and the birds came and devoured them. Other seeds fell on rocky ground, where they did not have much soil, and immediately they sprang up, since they had no depth of soil, but when the sun rose they were scorched. And since they had no root, they withered away. Other seeds fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked them. Other seeds fell on good soil and produced grain, some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty. He who has ears, let him hear.” Matthew 13:1-9
What kind of ground are you? Good ground multiplies the seed put into it. The principle of God’s created fruit and seed is that it will produce and multiply. But the seed does not produce or multiply in every place it falls. The true gospel multiplies in good ground. This is our charge and commission from Jesus to produce and multiply disciples.
Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age. Matthew 28:19-20
3 things we are to do: Make disciples, baptize them, and teach them. This charge rests on everyone who calls Jesus Lord. This means we must testify to what Jesus has done and is doing in our lives with those we meet. Inviting them to just a religious service is not discipling them. Becoming their friend and sharing life together are just the first steps. Have you baptized anyone into the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit? Do you teach those who are in your discipleship group? When should a believer in Jesus talk about their testimony of what Jesus is doing in their lives? When should a believer be studying and working to show themselves approved to teach others? When should a believer to be presenting Christ to others?
Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth. 2 Timothy 2:14-16
Look to God for your answers, help, counsel, guidance, and resource needs. Can you trust God for those things? Have you been put into a place where God is your ONLY solution to your problem or need? Can you trust Him? To what depth has your trust been tested? Are you good ground? Have you been found faithful? A lot has to do with the depth of our surrender and choices. And those choices begin again every morning.
I will choose Christ
I will choose love
I choose to serve
I give my heart
I give my life
I give all to You
Some days are hard
And I fight to see the truth
But I’m gonna take a stand
In all I say and do
Some fall away
And some refuse to see
A willing and humble heart
I pray You’ll find in me
You are grace
You are peace
You are hope and healing
You are faith
You are joy
You are God revealing

My Lord and King

Pour into the disciples that are good ground. Water that good ground. Help them grow.
