And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Then I said, “Here I am! Send me.” And he said, “Go, and say to this people:
“‘Keep on hearing, but do not understand;
keep on seeing, but do not perceive.’
Make the heart of this people dull,
and their ears heavy,
and blind their eyes;
lest they see with their eyes,
and hear with their ears,
and understand with their hearts,
and turn and be healed.’” Isaiah 6:8-10
And disagreeing among themselves, they departed after Paul had made one statement: “The Holy Spirit was right in saying to your fathers through Isaiah the prophet:
“‘Go to this people, and say,
You will indeed hear but never understand,
and you will indeed see but never perceive.”
For this people’s heart has grown dull,
and with their ears they can barely hear,
and their eyes they have closed;
lest they should see with their eyes
and hear with their ears
and understand with their heart
and turn, and I would heal them.’” Acts 28:25-27
Hearing and never understanding… the Truth. Seeing but never perceiving the actual reality of things. Having ‘dull’ hearts that have become ignorant, and angry with God. And I can hear so many say, “Surely Lord that isn’t me?” How many times have you refused the Holy Spirit’s counsel to your heart? How many times has your prideful life experience been your grid of complete understanding …and you demand God fit into your understanding? How many times has God given you ‘signs’ so that you would repent and acknowledge Him… but you continue to dismiss the ‘still small Voice’ of the Holy Spirit within your mind and heart?
Pride. How dangerous is it really? The fires of hell will be filled with the prideful. The ‘argumentative’ spirit is based in pride. Arrogance is based in pride. At what point does God ask a prophet to basically ‘close to door’ to a certain people’s ability to understand the things of God?
The ‘middle ground’ is being removed now around the world, especially in this country currently. The middle ground of values, the economic middle ground, the political middle ground, the world’s view of religious middle ground, is all being removed and separated. The words of Jesus ring in my ears at this time… “No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other” (Matthew 6:24)
Everyone will have to choose Whom they will serve. Joshua’s call and question to the people. ..choose this day whom you will serve, Joshua 24:15 This is what happens when the middle ground is removed. Everyone is given a choice on which side to stand. But the time to decide is short.
This isn’t about political sides or governments in as much of what will ‘save’ the people. It is about choosing God’s side. Choosing God’s ways and values. Acknowledging God as the Sovereign and Creator of all. Acknowledging that Jesus is who He says He is. Because the Truth is …EVERY KNEE will bow before Him. for it is written, “As I live, says the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.” Romans 14:11
So what is wisdom? Choose God’s side. Acknowledge Jesus is God’s son and Messiah. Acknowledge Jesus is the ONLY way into heaven. Acknowledge the work of the Holy Spirit in your life. Wisdom is listening to Him. Wisdom is asking in humility for His help to open your eyes, ears, and heart to what He wants you to see, hear, and do. Ask in humility for the Holy Spirit to ‘teach’ you. Learn to pursue God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit EVERYDAY.. with fervency and passion.
EVERYDAY we have a choice of who we will follow. The day is coming when we will no longer have that choice. Choose today.
