The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. John 1:5
Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” John 8:12
Is darkness surrounding you? Then you need more ‘light’. Darkness is simply the absence of light. Is your mood growing dimmer rather than lighter? Are you being barraged by more and more depressing news? It seems the world is increasingly getting darker, and it may well be — but that does not need to be you. For you have the Light within you, who indwells you, and guides you through the dark places shining a light to your path.
Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. Psalms 119:105
He will speak of His love to you – whispering to the most inner parts of your soul.
I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world. John 16:33
For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world except the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God? 1 John 5:4-5
Our ‘faith’? In Him? In His promises? Have you had those tests yet? Has your faith been put through the ‘refiners’ fire? Has the crucible of life crushed you in ways you never thought possible? Has He shown Himself to be trustworthy to you … personally? Faith comes by hearing…
So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ. Romans 10:17
The Greek word for ‘word’ here is Rhema rather than Logos. Rhema is that ‘Word’ that pierces you personally, and touches you in your deepest heart and soul. Rhema is a ‘word’ spoken directly to you by the Spirit of God. THIS is the foundation of our .. faith. First we must be able to ‘hear’ Him. Can you hear Him? Are you able to recognize His Voice within you?
My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. John 10:27
It’s like being able to recognize the voice of a loved one in a very noisy crowded room. How are you able to do that? Because you ‘know’ them so well. You actually know how they sound. Recognizing His Voice is crucial for your growth in life with Him. Reading His word (The Bible) will acquaint you with His ‘ways’ and what He has already said. Do you get the ‘feelings’ of warmth when you read the Word because it is like ‘hearing Him’ again? He comes to us to comfort us, to let us know He is with us. The Holy Spirit reminds us what He has said to us. This life is learning to recognize Him … over and over, and in deeper and deeper ways. Do you recognize His Light? Hearing His Voice dispels the darkness in our soul and the atmosphere around us.
During this season — we need to be always ‘listening’ for His Voice, and working on our ability to hear Him. How? By being ever attentive to our Teacher …the Holy Spirit dwelling within us.
But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, He will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you. John 14:26
The Holy Spirit will help us ‘recognize ‘ Him. The Holy Spirit will help us recognize the Voice of Jesus speaking in our minds and hearts.
Is He really the reason for this season? Is He speaking to your soul?
Ask Him to speak to you. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you hear Him better.
