Beauty and Art

but let your adorning be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God’s sight is very precious. 1 Peter 3:4

What is real beauty? How do we experience real beauty? What makes things beautiful to us? What is it in us that is able to ‘see’ beauty? How is beauty really held? I ponder these kinds of questions. The soul is the seat of emotions and what we find beautiful strikes our emotions in a myriad of ways. Without emotions would there be any recognition of beauty? The creation of an ‘imager’ (one created in His ‘image’) is much more complex and of a dimensional process than we currently understand. The triune-ness of our very being, spirit, soul, and body. Being able to recognize our identity given to us by our Creator — becomes a quest and a purpose, with another who is always trying to sabotage that process. Learning the intricacies and depths of an individual can reveal beauty not seen by the physical eye but by our spiritual senses connected within our souls. A God love (agape) can reveal beauty that was and is hidden to us before. Artists are in pursuit of that experience and are trying to translate that process through their art.  What is it that ‘inspires’ you? What resonates with the frequencies in you when you look at certain art or read poetry or a story or watch a movie? Obviously we move to the ‘why’ questions and that is a noble part of the path to maturity and understanding, but it certainly isn’t the final destination. In our pursuit of the ‘why’ we eventually will have to the move to the “whom” questions. This will be our eternal quest of the revealing of the Whom. Learning the depths of relationship never discovered before.

We begin with the ‘what’ questions early on the path, eventually moving on to the ‘why’ questions, and then later move to the ‘whom’ questions. This is the path and process of maturity. Few take on such a perilous adventure which is fraught with risk and danger as there are many who are set against seeing anyone set out on that path. But is the journey worth it? Ask the ‘elders’ who seem to possess a peace that goes beyond understanding.

“Strive to enter through the narrow door. For many, I tell you, will seek to enter and will not be able.” Luke 13:24

“Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.” Matthew 7:13-14

Can we learn to appreciate beauty and art? Or is it more than an educational formula? How does one learn about the ‘art’ within them? How do you explore that realization? Have you allowed yourself to find that part of yourself? How do we tap into the ‘spark’ of inspiration given to us by our Creator? Can we learn to ‘see’ as He sees? Can we know how He feels about the beauty?

What is your source? Why is it your source? Who is your Source?
