Adventuring with God the Holy Spirit

Good friend, take to heart what I’m telling you; collect my counsels and guard them with your life. Tune your ears to the world of Wisdom; set your heart on a life of Understanding. That’s right—if you make insight your priority, and won’t take no for an answer, searching for it like a prospector panning for gold, like an adventurer on a treasure hunt, believe me, before you know it Fear-of-God will be yours; you’ll have come upon the Knowledge of God. Proverbs 2:1-5 The Message

Just think—you don’t need a thing, you’ve got it all! All God’s gifts are right in front of you as you wait expectantly for our Master Jesus to arrive on the scene for the Finale. And not only that, but God Himself is right alongside to keep you steady and on track until things are all wrapped up by Jesus. God, who got you started in this spiritual adventure, shares with us the life of His Son and our Master Jesus. He will never give up on you. Never forget that. 1 Corinthians 1:7-9 The Message

Are you ready to go on adventures with Him? Or are you on one now and you just don’t know it yet? What’s your attitude towards adventures? Would you be willing to go on a hike with Jesus? Would you be willing to go with someone like the apostle Paul into strange lands and preach Jesus? Would you be up for a quick adventure today to places you haven’t been before or meeting people you are not expecting? Are ready to teach or preach the Gospel at any moment? Are you ready to give your latest exciting testimony about what Jesus and the Holy Spirit has been doing in your life in the last week?

Life with the Holy Spirit is vibrant and exciting IF we actually follow His personal instructions to us. Walking with Jesus can be very unpredictable. He will do things you are not expecting.

And He who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.  Romans 8:27

Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.  Romans 12:2

Who can actually know the mind of God? We can learn some of His plans by surrendering to the Holy Spirit. But it takes an intimate relationship with Him. Talking together. Listening to Him. Asking Him questions. Doing what He asks you to do. Going with Him when He asks you on an adventure. All of this is part of the life of prayer. Are you conversing with Him throughout your day? Do you expect Him to answer you? Granted sometimes the answers take a while, Daniel waited 21 days for an answer. There actually are spiritual blockades set to hinder you if you are on a ‘task’ for Him. Are all the 9 fruit of the Spirit active and being utilized in your life? We are set on a path of adventure with Him. Are you a willing participant? Or are you grumbling and complaining? Be willing to watch and see what He is doing all around you. And be ready when He asks you to participate in what He is doing.

  1. Not all of His adventures are pleasurable. Some test our soul. Some cause a crucifying of the flesh. The good news is that we always learn and grow because of them. We always deepen our walk and relationship with the Father just as any son and dad would that routinely went on adventures
