He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by Him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through Him and for Him. Colossians 1:15-16
Is the invisible important? If it is why don’t we act like it is? Are things beyond your physical senses important? How about the finite versus the infinite? What about the human soul and spirit? Are they created to be eternal?
When we get older we learn about invisible things. But who is teaching us about those invisible things? Are they trustworthy or do they have an agenda? How do we know if our teachers of the invisible are being informed by the ‘invisible’ God who knows His Creation and how it works? Is there any evidence that the teachers of the invisible have any kind of connection and revelation from the invisible God? How do we know what actually is interacting with all these invisible forces?
Is our soul real? How about our spirit? Has the Holy Spirit led you to learn about how they are different and why that might be important and maybe why you should care? Maybe we should listen to Him our Creator and learn about His Creation (us), and learn why we are the way we are. It definitely is easier to dismiss anything we can’t explain by our physical senses. Do we believe His written Word? Or do we dismiss it as myth or as fairy tales? Do you then believe in the Holy Spirit and Him indwelling human vessels? Do you believe He indwells you now? How do you know? Just as a mental assent (in your mind alone)? Or do you have other evidence? Can you explain Him to others from personal stories and history? How are we to believe the translation and interpretation of the Word from human teachers we are listening to? Do you have a close enough personal relationship with the Holy Spirit for you to be able to listen and learn from Him – rather than only through others?
Did the invisible exist before the visible? Which is the foundation of everything? How do you know? Why? Have you ever asked the Holy Spirit these questions? Or do just believe those humans who say “It is so…”? Have you explored the scriptures about the invisible?
Who has absolute truth? What exactly is truth? Do you ever go to God Himself for answers? Which part of the Godhead is available to you? Have you learned to accept His answers to you in your soul and your mind?
The older I get the more I know the exploration of the invisible is way more important than the visible. Learning about what is eternal is way more important than the things that will pass away, and eventually be consumed by fire. Learning to invest in the invisible is more important than investing in the physical. Looking forward to that which He has prepared for us gives us hope so that we can be grounded in the present without fear of the future or death. We need to be listening to His daily instructions and be quick to obedience so that we can be about the invisible important things rather than the seemingly physically urgent things.
What are you aware of .. only the physical? Or are you somehow aware of the invisible? Does your soul have a way of detecting the invisible? How is our spirit involved in the invisible realms? Are you dismissing the importance of the invisible to your own detriment of your physical life?
Be brave. Ask the Holy Spirit about the invisible and how it is interacting with you in ways you don’t currently know.
