Thoughts…

For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways, declares the Lord.
For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts. Isaiah 55:8-9

You have multiplied, O Lord my God, your wondrous deeds and your thoughts toward us; none can compare with you! I will proclaim and tell of them, yet they are more than can be told. Psalms 40:5

How great are your works, O Lord! Your thoughts are very deep! Psalms 92:5

How precious to me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them! Psalms 139:17

For the wisdom of this world is folly with God. For it is written, “He catches the wise in their craftiness,” and again, “The Lord knows the thoughts of the wise, that they are futile.” 1 Corinthians 3:19-21

Oh the difference of how God thinks and the way we think. What are most of your thoughts about? For where our thoughts are so we will go. What consumes your mind? Are your thoughts mainly plagued by fear, or emotional desires, or anger, or physical wants? How many of your thoughts are directed by the Holy Spirit? How many of your thoughts are about God?

The Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intention of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. Genesis 6:5

(For as were the days of Noah, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. Matthew 24:37)

In the pride of his face the wicked does not seek him; all his thoughts are, “There is no God.” Psalms 10:4

the Lord—knows the thoughts of man, that they are but a breath. Psalms 94:11

let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; let him return to the Lord, that He may have compassion on him, and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon. Isaiah 55:7

Their feet run to evil, and they are swift to shed innocent blood; their thoughts are thoughts of iniquity; desolation and destruction are in their highways. Isaiah 59:7

“Thus says the Lord God: On that day, thoughts will come into your mind, and you will devise an evil scheme…” Ezekiel 38:10

But Jesus, knowing their thoughts, said, “Why do you think evil in your hearts? Matthew 9:4

But I am afraid that as the serpent deceived Eve by his cunning, your thoughts will be led astray from a sincere and pure devotion to Christ. 2 Corinthians 11:3

For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. Hebrews 4:12

For if anyone thinks he is something, when he is nothing, he deceives himself. Galatians 6:3

If anyone thinks he is religious and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his heart, this person’s religion is worthless. James 1:26

The fruit of self-control (Greek – egkrateia) is the last fruit of the Holy Spirit listed in Galatians 5:23. This is the fruit that allows us to take control of our thoughts and bring them in alignment and agreement with the Holy Spirit. This is the way. Taking every thought captive to Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5) is the way we learn how to win the battle within our minds and hearts over our enemies.

You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You. Isaiah 26:3

Win the battle in your mind today. Keep refocusing on God. Listen to the whisper of the Holy Spirit.

  1. Good word my friend and good use of scripture, bringing a lot of the word together like puzzle pieces to bring the whole picture together
Discipline in our thought life is of absolute importance
