The unfathomable God.

For there is not a word on my tongue,
But behold, O Lord, You know it altogether.

You have hedged me behind and before,
And laid Your hand upon me.

Such knowledge is too wonderful for me;
It is high, I cannot attain it.

Where can I go from Your Spirit?
Or where can I flee from Your presence?

If I ascend into heaven, You are there;
If I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there.

If I take the wings of the morning,
And dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea,

Even there Your hand shall lead me,
And Your right hand shall hold me.
Psalms 139:4-10

For if our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart, and knows all things. 1 John 3:20

And I heard, as it were, the voice of a great multitude, as the sound of many waters and as the sound of mighty thunderings, saying, “Alleluia! For the Lord God Omnipotent reigns! Revelation 19:6

Omnipresent (everywhere at all times). Omniscient. (knows everything at all times) Omnipotent (all powerful). Is your concept of God too small? Can your imagination even BEGIN to comprehend the magnitude of God? Because we are made in His image we think He is like us. This is a mistake.

Now also when I am old and grayheaded,
O God, do not forsake me,
Until I declare Your strength to this generation,
Your power to everyone who is to come.

 Also Your righteousness, O God, is very high,
You who have done great things;
O God, who is like You?

You, who have shown me great and severe troubles,
Shall revive me again,
And bring me up again from the depths of the earth.
Psalms 71:18-20

It seems God gets larger and more unfathomable in my mind with each passing year.

Thus says the Lord, the King of Israel
    and his Redeemer, the Lord of hosts:
“I am the first and I am the last;
    besides me there is no god.

Who is like me? Let him proclaim it.
    Let him declare and set it before me,
since I appointed an ancient people.
    Let them declare what is to come, and what will happen.

Fear not, nor be afraid;
    have I not told you from of old and declared it?
    And you are my witnesses!
Is there a God besides me?
    There is no Rock; I know not any.” Isaiah 44:6-8

Why do we create ideas that try to define God’s limits? Many ‘religious’ leaders always have ideas and doctrines that seem to limit God. Is it from the first lie told to Adam and Eve in the garden, that we would be ‘like God’?

Is your god too small? Or do you know the ONLY God? Certainly the scriptures describe beings that are NOT human that have greater than human abilities – who are part of God’s creation. One third of them rebelled and are attempting to war with God. This war includes us and we are their target. Yet … because this spiritual war is mostly invisible – we don’t see it or understand it very well, and tend to dismiss it. Another mistake.

God is our defense.

He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High
    will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.

I will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress,
    my God, in whom I trust.”

For He will deliver you from the snare of the fowler
    and from the deadly pestilence.

He will cover you with His pinions,
    and under His wings you will find refuge;
    His faithfulness is a shield and buckler.

You will not fear the terror of the night,
    nor the arrow that flies by day,

nor the pestilence that stalks in darkness,
    nor the destruction that wastes at noonday.

A thousand may fall at your side,
    ten thousand at your right hand,
    but it will not come near you. Psalms 91:1-7

Declare your allegiance to God again today. Come before Him in humility and gratefulness. Give Him praise from the depths of your heart.
