For that person must not suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways. James 1:7-8
Other seeds fell on rocky ground, where they did not have much soil, and immediately they sprang up, since they had no depth of soil, but when the sun rose they were scorched. And since they had no root, they withered away. Matthew 13:5-6
This type of instability is referenced in both of these scriptures. Unfortunately this type of ‘religious conversion’ is not unusual, obviously even back when Jesus walked the earth. These types have no ‘root’ within themselves, and this comes from a lack of depth of development of character. These types may have as many ‘conversions’ as there are days in a year, and in the end remain the same unreliable type of person, being so emotional that they can’t rest in any stable point of Truth, and just become adherents to the latest ‘new interest’ or fad or latest social new construct. (ie. Gender theory and many other new ‘woke’ revelations)
This characteristic of this hyper social media culture is all about being ‘found’ interesting (likes, hits, views). Whether it be literature, new amusements, art, or radical new definitions of words that cater to this craving to be ‘interesting’, and again unfortunately, the religion of the institutional Church is quick to pander to this demand to be found ‘interesting’. They will scratch the ears of those who want to hear the ‘new interesting progressive’ things, because most people don’t want to face the rugged facts of the real Gospel because when the Holy Spirit comes into a person He challenges the person’s will and heart, and demands complete reconstruction of their entire lives, and that change will wreak havoc on the former complacency and latest cultural fads.
The Holy Spirit’s work in a person’s life will radically change them; their character, their perspective, their values, their heart, their choices, their very life’s purpose. It begins with surrender of the person’s will within the individual to the moving of the Holy Spirit within them. Sure you can have all the academic and schooling in the scriptures (The Pharisees had that too) — but that doesn’t guarantee a heart change in the individual. This work must come THROUGH the Holy Spirit. Can you recognize Him, His Voice, His work within you? Do you know when He is giving you instructions? How? These are all valid questions most of the institutional church refuses to address. Why? Because of the structure it is built upon. It is built on the earthly model and not of that of the new covenant which Jesus came to bring. Each and every individual can have direct access to God through the blood of Jesus and receiving the indwelling Presence of the Holy Spirit. Once you can read the scriptures for yourself and have the Holy Spirit dwelling within you — there really is no better ‘teacher’.
But the anointing that you received from him abides in you, and you have no need that anyone should teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about everything, and is true, and is no lie—just as it has taught you, abide in him. 1 John 2:27
So why is the institutional Church still using old covenant authority models of clerical and laity? Priests vs people? Why would they teach something else? Why would they model something else? Where exactly does the instability come from in the current Bride of Christ? The great commission to the Church was what? Get souls saved? Have them sit in a building once a week?
Go therefore and make disciples of all nations… Matthew 28:19
Is the institutional church really making disciples or pew sitters, club members, tithe givers, and latte cruisers?
