I must apologize for the lapse in the ‘Daily Devotional’ area of my website. Our home is now going through a renovation process. And part remodel. Were losing part of a wall, and gaining a new kitchen and almost everything else will be changing and being updated. So for the last week my wife and I have been packing up the entire house and packing it into the garage. It’s just like moving without the moving to another location.
We as individuals are also going through a lifelong renovation IF we submit ourselves to the work the Holy Spirit wants to do in our lives. He renews us, rearranges us, and even removes certain areas in us — to make us into the version the Father had in HIS mind when He created us.
What I’m learning is renovation is A LOT of work. Just the preparation for the work to begin — we had to deal with the past and the clutter. OH so much clutter and …dirt. Toss this, donate that, give this to this person, and over and over these cycles continued just to get ready for the renovation. Removing every piece — looking at it, considering it, asking if it should stay or …go. So many memories were staring us in the face, mostly good, as we don’t normally keep the reminders of the ‘bad’ ones.
We too must revisit certain areas in our lives and consider…. Asking the Holy Spirit what we should do, and asking Him what He wants to do …in us. Renewal, regeneration, renovation, revival, reformation are all on the same line but each has a slightly different process and action. Sometimes we choose it and sometimes the process presents itself without us choosing it. Either way …change is happening. And our job is to submit to the Holy Spirit and ….learn.
I’ve been learning AND experiencing that I’m not as young as my mind thinks I am. This body has too many miles. But my mind and soul is LEARNING! There have been numerous tests and challenges this last week highlighting ALL the fruit of the Spirit I need to work more intensively on personally.
Renovation can be stressful, difficult, painful, stretching, and exhausting. So I ponder was this about our home going through a renovation at this time … or was this about my personal renovation? Questions, questions… to ask the Holy Spirit as we (and our dogs) are now ‘guests’ living somewhere else while our home is being ‘renewed’.
