Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” John 14:6
This a statement that has more implications than most don’t realize. This will make anyone who hasn’t come to realize it — angry. This statement is most likely the most defining statement that Jesus made. In it lies the very essence of God. Life cannot exist without Him. Truth cannot exist without Him. You cannot know God without Him. You cannot find God without Him. The apostle John wrote by the Holy Spirit truths that are still being discussed about Jesus.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him was not any thing made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. John 1:1
And how does one get to know Jesus? It is the Holy Spirit that enlightens the mind of the individual as to who exactly He is. When confronted with this Truth the individual must make a choice, to accept it or deny it. If they accept the Truth the process begins. What will that seed of Truth do within the individual?
That same day Jesus went out of the house and sat beside the sea. And great crowds gathered about him, so that he got into a boat and sat down. And the whole crowd stood on the beach. And he told them many things in parables, saying: “A sower went out to sow. And as he sowed, some seeds fell along the path, and the birds came and devoured them. Other seeds fell on rocky ground, where they did not have much soil, and immediately they sprang up, since they had no depth of soil, but when the sun rose they were scorched. And since they had no root, they withered away. Other seeds fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked them. Other seeds fell on good soil and produced grain, some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty. He who has ears, let him hear.” Matthew 13:1-9
What kind of soil are you? What will that seed of Truth produce in you? Are you willing to allow the Holy Spirit to prepare the ground within you? Are you willing to have Him rip up your inner most life to prepare your heart and life to be guided by the Holy Spirit? Are you willing to have Him show you all the wrong thinking and beliefs you hold so dear? Are you willing to submit to a level you have never experienced before? Are you willing to humble yourself in a lifelong process to the Holy Spirit? How much do you want to know God?
Here’s a Truth that I am still having to deal with; Jesus is the Lord of the harvest in my life. I have expectations of myself that I must let go. I look for validation from my works and other people that I must dismiss and look only to what He says I am. He IS the Judge. He IS the Truth. Only He can judge and reward correctly. And I must resist sitting on His Throne. Only He is worthy to sit on His Throne. Only He knows the heart of every individual. Only He knows what will last and what won’t. Only He can judge justly.
Will you move towards religion or for a deeper relationship with Him? Many find religion much more comfortable and palatable than having to deal with — and living and vital relationship with the Holy Spirit who continues to reveal your … sin, and shortcomings. Religion is just a set of rules that is required. A real relationship requires so much more. Is the Holy Spirit confronting you everyday? Is He always asking you to do ‘uncomfortable’ things? Real spiritual maturity takes yielding to the Holy Spirit in ways you don’t even know yet. This process will go on till the day we graduate this earth.
What is He asking of you today? What is He asking you to do today?
