(In a Dad’s voice.)
In the parable of the talents those servants were given things to use in their master / employer’s service. Those that used those things to get ahead — were praised and given even more responsibility when their master / employer showed up. The servant that did nothing with their resources, who didn’t like their master / employer, ended up with nothing.
In the here and now – what are the resources you have been given? Are you more concerned of when your Master will return than being about His business that He wants you to do… right now? Are you scared of your Master / Lord? Or are you asking the Helper your Lord left you with to get guidance and instructions from? Did you know you even had a Helper? Have you even asked Him what you should be doing? Today? This morning? Right now?
Jesus told His disciples…
Nevertheless, I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you. John 16:7
And what did He come to do exactly?
But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. John 14:26
But the anointing that you received from him abides in you, and you have no need that anyone should teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about everything, and is true, and is no lie – just as it has taught you, abide in him. 1 John 2:27
Are you more concerned about when your Master / Lord will return rather than doing what He wants you to do today? Is your productivity lacking because your focus is being more and more distracted? Is the rising storm taking your eyes off of Him? What exactly has He asked you to do .. personally? Do you have that close of a relationship … or is it more of a ‘religion’ of mantras and wishes on your part? Is everything you’re working on currently about your wants or His? How do you know? Have you asked Him? Maybe what He wants from you is different that what you think… now what would be the possibilities of that?
Sometimes we need a ‘dad’ to come along and tell us to get off our ‘butts’ and start working. Not to be so concerned about the future that we’re no good in the present, in THIS HOUR.
None of us know exactly how much time ANY of us have left, so don’t you think today is important in the light of eternity? We have today to invest into eternity… let’s make it count. How? You ask? By getting in touch with the Helper He left us and getting His advice and instruction as to what we REALLY should be doing today.
