And Jesus went throughout all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and every affliction. When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Matthew 9:35-36
In this ever increasing complex world of technology, the chances of feeling helpless has also grown exponentially. We now depend SO much on the digital world for business and increasingly ‘everyday’ actions that when the ‘system’ goes down, or crashes, or doesn’t work, and no one responds back to you when you ask for help… the feelings of helplessness are inevitable. So many of our everyday devices, and even tools (Especially large things like cars / trucks) are now ‘digitally enhanced’ / chipped and take a much bigger expert intervention process to fix the issues, usually with a digital interface of some type. Hand held black boxes (cell phones) have become a digital leash to an extreme addiction.
The same can be said about our reliance on electricity. If the power goes out, life changes radically for everyone who hasn’t prepared for the scenario which is at least 99% of people / households. Technology has brought EXTREME comfort and convenience .. at a cost of very high dependency. The fragility of our current society ESPECIALLY if you live in a city has never been greater in my lifetime.
SO when this digital system has problems — those trapped are increasingly completely helpless to fix their situation. We’ve become almost totally dependent on the current technology in our lives. SO I can easily see how people will FLOCK to an ‘answer’ in a big presumed crisis, and gladly take a ‘mark’ or give allegiance to ANYONE or ANYTHING to get their comfort and convenience back. Who actually reads all of those ‘terms and conditions’ anymore?
The danger of ‘selling out’ to another Source for your continued ‘life’ has never been higher. We definitely saw this trend of how easily so many gave into a STRONG coercion / mandate to be stuck with an ‘experimental’ drug, for which NOBODY still doesn’t know what really was in it. All in the name of ‘safety’ and ‘health’. And now we’re seeing the awful results of that blind trust.
IS Jesus really your Doctor? Or do you first seek out someone else? IS your Body really the temple of the Holy Spirit or do you easily forget that fact when feeding it and giving it drugs before ever checking with Him if that is the current right course of the things? Do you ask Him when you need help? Or is it after you’ve sought help from every other possibility first? Is Jesus and the Holy Spirit the last on your ‘help’ list? We’ve so been taught and patterned to seek help in other ways.
Are we really helpless? Or do we actually have a Helper?
If you love me, you will keep my commandments. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you. John 14:15-17
But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you. John 14:26
But when the Helper comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father, he will bear witness about me. John 15:26
Nevertheless, I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you. John 16:7
So we can confidently say, “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?” Hebrews 13:6
Our Helper will help us if we ask Him. And the biggest immediate help is often the stress and anxiety of the current moment being relieved, knowing He will help you, and that He actually is in control. Then once we’ve calmed down He will often instruct us on the path out of the current situation. Is He your ‘helper’ only in spiritual matters or have you begun to ask Him about other issues / problems you face daily?
