“Watch and pray that you may not enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.” Matthew 26:41
For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong. 2 Corinthians 12:10
Do your weaknesses cause to you to go to the Holy Spirit for help and instruction? Do you process all of your internal issues with Him? The ‘flesh’ iniquity roots of fear, lust, and pride — are at the base of the human nature that must be conquered and dominated by our will and choices from our spirit. But only the Holy Spirit can really guide you and help you in this process. The Holy Spirit can identify the root causes of your problems and issues — if you will let Him, and listen to Him. Does the Holy Spirit really guide you in the way you should go?
Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and how inscrutable His ways!
“For who has known the mind of the Lord,
or who has been His counselor?”
“Or who has given a gift to Him
that He might be repaid?” Romans 11: 33-35
Who counseled Jesus? Who gave Him direction? What would Jesus do daily, but meet with the Father and Holy Spirit in prayer. Who are you meeting with daily ? Who’s counsel and wisdom are you seeking for the challenges set before you? If the Holy Spirit is really inside of you and has taken up residence in your body — do you converse with Him — throughout your day —about all you are experiencing and encountering? Has He become you counselor in all things? The spiritual life is about interacting with spiritual things, and gaining wisdom from the spiritual knowledge from the Creator and your Lord. To become spiritually mature one must be constantly relating to the Holy Spirit. Most see this ‘spiritual relationship’ as a formula or a set of rules, from religious settings and teachings — like Sunday morning services or programmed Bible studies, or from dutiful Bible reading. This was the same as the people who lived prior to the Pentecost, and were ruled by the Pharisees and Sadducees and scribes in their religious practices. But Jesus came to bring a new relationship with God through the indwelling Presence of the Holy Spirit. The indwelling Presence of the Holy Spirit would become your Teacher and Helper guiding you in the understanding of the scriptures and direction He wants you to go in your life.
But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you. John 14:26
Is the Holy Spirit teaching you? Is He explaining the scriptures to you? Do you allow Him to expose those ‘dark’ areas in you that He wants to change? Are you willing to admit to the faults and sin He exposes in you? Are you willing to ask Him questions when He does that in you, asking for His direction and instruction? Do you bring all of your dark emotions and feelings to Him for help and counsel? Do you listen to Him as to what you are to do with them?
Or are you just comfortable just going through the religious motions and services and like to keep the Holy Spirit bound from saying anything you don’t want to hear. So many won’t allow Him to speak to them about their own inner soul and personal issues. They don’t want to face up to their own shortcomings and faults. Usually it’s our pride, and fear… ‘tag teaming’ against us from listening to the wisdom of the Spirit of God.
Are you truly in pursuit of spiritual maturity and learning what Jesus has for you … today — and in the current hardship you are encountering?
Open your spiritual ears and listen to what the Holy Spirit is saying to you personally… right now. Be brave enough to ask Him scary / dangerous questions about where you need to be, and learn, and what you need His help with to change you into the person He wants you to be.
Are you a true spiritual ‘adventurer’ in Christ? Or are you sitting on the sidelines and trying to tell others what to do?
But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. Matthew 6:33
Are you really seeking the kingdom of God with all your heart?
