A short parable

For the body does not consist of one member but of many. 1 Corinthians 12:14

One day the ever proficient hands came across some fur on an animal. To the touch the feeling was glorious! The ever proficient hands were so excited that they decided to bring the animal and it’s fur to the exalted eyes. The exalted eyes took one look at the fur, but the way the ever proficient hands held the animal all the exalted eyes could see was the luxurious black fur. The exalted eyes were remarking what a wonderful thing the ever proficient hands had found. From the conversation the ugly nose woke up and wondered what all the fuss was about. “What’s going on guys?” the ugly nose asked. “None of your business ugly nose.”, the exalted eyes remarked sharply. Then the exalted eyes asked the ever proficient hands to bring the fur closer so that they could see it in greater detail. As the ever proficient hands lifted the animal towards the eyes, at which point the ugly nose caught a whiff of the animal.

“GUYS!!! Hands please gently put the animal down — and let’s get the fast legs and feet to run and get us out of here … NOW!”, the ugly nose shouted. The exalted eyes and ever proficient hands asked the ugly nose at the same time with distain, “Why?”

“Because it’s a skunk!” The ugly nose said with urgency.

The eye cannot say to the hand, “I have no need of you,” nor again the head to the feet, “I have no need of you.” On the contrary, the parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable, and on those parts of the body that we think less honorable we bestow the greater honor, and our unpresentable parts are treated with greater modesty, which our more presentable parts do not require. But God has so composed the body, giving greater honor to the part that lacked it, that there may be no division in the body, but that the members may have the same care for one another. If one member suffers, all suffer together; if one member is honored, all rejoice together. 1 Corinthians 12:21-26

We need one another. We are just a ‘part’ of the whole Body. We all have gifts that can contribute to the whole.
